So What is LCHF anyway???

So what is this new way of eating that I’m talking about?

Well before I explain that in simple language, I must put a disclaimer first, as I don’t want anyone to think that I am giving advice, or have any medical or science background, as I do not.

So, it’s important that you understand the above, so that you know this may not work for you, and each person is different, my situation may not be relevant to you. I am just hoping that if you are someone like me, my experience may benefit you. Even if it helps you to work out what not to do, before you do it.

This way of eating (woe) is called, Low Carb High Fat, it has many other names, but this is what I call it, as it’s easy to understand. Also note it is also meant to be moderate protein not high protein, however as I don’t count anything, I’m guessing sometimes my protein may be higher than moderate. You can Google high fat low carb diet, or banting and you will find many websites that will give you the scientific explanation, if you are into that. The websites that helped me the most are: Diet Doctor, Christine Cronau and Ditch the Carbs.

Diet Doctor by Dr Andreas Eendfeldt, his site was where I went first to get information and work out what to eat. The site also gives the scientific explanations and evidence, as well as lots of information that is easy to understand, there are lots of videos, and other people to follow, one of them being Professor Tim Noakes, who has an interesting story. You can get enough information for free to assist you in this way of life, I decided to join, as I wanted to know everything. I will, say that, with the free info that diet doctor gives, is so impressive, no-one ever gives that info away for free, you have to sign up and give your credit card details, this was truly the first diet place I have come across over the years that gave you enough information to live by, yet you didn’t have to pay a cent. I joined anyway after about a month, as I wanted more, and for the few dollars a month it costs me, it is so worth it, and no I don’t work for them, but feel I owe my health and wellness to them, I couldn’t have done it without them.

Christine Cronau has an Australian website, and for $10 a month, you can ask her questions and she gets back to you quickly. A further valuable resource is her nutritionist you can consult with via Skype for a fee, very convenient.

Ditch the Carbs by Libby Jenkinson, I use Ditch the Carbs a lot for new and interesting recipes, in fact I go to DtC a lot more now, as it is caters for Australians and New Zealanders, so that helps with ingredients. Her recipes are easy to follow and are very tasty, and have just about everything you are looking for, (all the carb loaded foods you missed), she makes a low carb, yummy version. DtC also has lots of information to get you started on your new “woe”, so another place to get you started.
